Today, we celebrate an incredible woman who has not only changed the course of history but has also inspired so many of us along the way. Pst. Dayo Ekong, the Chairman of Labour Party Lagos, is someone whose strength, vision, and dedication have impacted our lives in ways words can hardly capture. On this special day, I want to take a moment to reflect on the tremendous influence she has had, especially on the youth and women of Lagos, and beyond.

A Leader Who Shaped History
It’s often said that some people are born to make history, and Pst. Dayo Ekong is undoubtedly one of them. As our leader, she didn’t just follow the usual path — she carved a new one. Through her vision, leadership, and determination, she led us to what was once thought impossible: a victory for Labour Party in Lagos! That one pivotal decision she made? It changed everything for us. A lot of people don’t know this, but her bravery, her ability to stand tall and take that leap of faith, shaped history in Lagos.

Empowering Youth and Women
For me and many others, Pst. Dayo Ekong isn’t just a leader; she is a role model. She has shown us that with determination, integrity, and boldness, anything is possible — regardless of our gender or age. As a young woman, it’s easy to feel like the political world isn’t for us, but Pst. Dayo has proven otherwise. She’s a woman who has shattered barriers and opened doors for us to step in, speak up, and be heard.

Her leadership has inspired countless young people, especially women, to believe in themselves and to get involved in the political process. She’s shown us that we don’t have to wait for permission to lead.

What You’ve Achieved
Under Pst. Dayo’s leadership, Labour Party Lagos has flourished. She’s built a party that is focused on the people and remains unwavering in its commitment to inclusivity. Some of her key achievements include:

• Bringing the party together and strengthening our presence at all levels, from grassroots to state leadership.
• Opening doors for more youth and women to take leadership roles, ensuring we’re not just participants, but decision-makers.
• Steering the party through a highly challenging 2023 election campaign, securing a place for Labour Party in Lagos history.

I don’t think enough people realize just how much she’s accomplished. Pst. Dayo has not only fought for a better Lagos but also for a better future for every young person and woman with dreams of serving their communities.

A Personal Note of Gratitude
On a personal note, working with you has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, ma. You’ve not only been a leader but a mentor, a guide, and a true source of inspiration. Your strength and resilience are contagious. When things seemed tough, you always reminded me that if we stay focused and remain true to our purpose, we’ll see the results.

Your leadership isn’t just about political success; it’s about the way you lead with love, compassion, and a sense of justice. You’ve shown me — and countless others — that to lead is to serve.
