In a stride towards nurturing effective leadership and community engagement, the Eti Osa chapter of the Labour Party Lagos organized a one-day Leadership Training Programme for Women Leaders representing the ten wards in the Eti Osa Local Government Area.

The event, titled “Building Communities with Love,” unfolded on the 7th of February 2024 at Ibukun House in Victoria Island, hosted by Eko Hotel & Suites.

The initiative, an offshoot of the Lagos state chapter’s charity, Liberal Hearts Outreach, aims to extend the training across all twenty local governments, creating a formidable team of women leaders equipped with character, competence, and capacity.

Key Highlights of the Leadership Training:

  • Emotional Intelligence: The program delved into emotional intelligence competencies and self-management tools, emphasizing the role of emotions in leadership.
  • Self-Management: Participants engaged in exercises focusing on emotional self-control, achievement orientation, positive outlook, adaptability, empathy, organizational awareness, and more.
  • Relationship Management: The training explored facets like influence, coaching, conflict management, inspirational leadership, and teamwork.
  • Managing Change: Participants underwent deep reflections on personal values, dreams, learning agendas, experimentation, and seeking support from the community.

Facilitators:

The program featured esteemed facilitators, including Mrs. Betty Nwandike, Barr Elvira Salleras, Judith Ebaguehita Aghator, Omobosola Karimat Alaka, and Mariam Akimnuoye-Agbaje.

Mrs. Betty Nwandike, the Eti Osa Woman Leader, expressed, “The event aimed to provide valuable orientation, enhance community building, and prioritize the effective use of new media in political and community leadership.”
