September 26, [2023]

Introduction

The recent judgment delivered by the Lagos State Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal on September 25, [2023] has been met with profound disappointment by the Labour Party Lagos State. The party wishes to address its supporters and concerned citizens while outlining its response to the verdict.

A Disheartening Verdict

With great concern and dismay, the Labour Party Lagos State has attentively followed the proceedings and subsequent judgment of the Lagos State Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal. We acknowledge that the tribunal’s decision has been a source of disappointment to many who had hoped for a different outcome.

Remaining Law-Abiding Citizens

We wish to emphasize our commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining civility in our quest for justice. Despite our disappointment, we urge our teeming supporters and well-wishers to remain calm and peaceful as we embark on the next phase of this legal journey.

The Way Forward

In the pursuit of justice, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), our esteemed candidate, and the Labour Party Lagos State have promptly instructed our legal team to conduct a comprehensive review of the tribunal’s judgment. This review will form the foundation for our appeal to the Appellate Court.

Our unwavering belief is that, despite the challenges and obstacles we faced, the Labour Party secured victory in the Lagos State gubernatorial election. The harassment, intimidation, and harm inflicted upon our members, the “Obidients,” and supporters throughout the state did not deter our commitment to justice.

We firmly assert that delayed justice will eventually be rightfully regained, and the mandate entrusted to us by the people will be upheld.

Exploring All Legal Means

The Labour Party Lagos State assures its supporters and the people of Lagos that we will explore all legal avenues to correct the perceived injustices done to the majority of Lagosians. Our resolve to stand up for what is just and right remains unshaken.

A Grateful Acknowledgment

In closing, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our steadfast supporters and dedicated members. Your unwavering commitment and support fuel our determination to pursue justice and uphold the will of the people.

Thank you for standing with us in our relentless pursuit of justice.
