Bye Elections

Date: February 5th, 2024

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all LP members and Obideints for their unwavering support and commitment during the recent bye elections in Surulere Constituency 1.

Despite challenges, including low voter turnout and apathy possibly influenced by lost faith in INEC and our democracy, LP members demonstrated resilience and dedication.

Security measures were in place, ensuring the safety of our members and voters, with no casualties reported.

Polling unit agents were recruited for all 258 the polling units in constituency 1 for unfortunately a few didn’t turn for the election. The arrest of a polling unit agent in PU 023 for impersonation has been duly addressed , he was released earlier today.

The poor performance at the polls is admittedly discouraging. LP takes responsibility and will hold relevant stakeholders accountable. To this end, a 5-Men Committee will conduct a post-election forensic audit, delivering findings to the state executives for necessary action.

We urge concerned Nigerian citizens, Obideints, and LP members to get more involved in party politics. We need vibrant and determined individuals to represent the interests of Nigerians.

LP remains committed to building a formidable opposition party in Lagos. We broke a 24-year jinx by winning Lagos in the 2023 General Elections, and we will continue to build on this success.

Thank you for your unwavering support.
